My creative space

Now don't go into shock but this week saw me complete a knitted project. A simple idea, inspired by this funky lady, but I am considerably slower at knitting than crochet..... And I have a don't go below 4mm needle rule which I had to break so I could use some of my fine handspun merino and silk yarn.

I've been spurred on by quick sales of my cowls from last week to make another cowl from  my own handspun yarn. This one I carded alpaca with a blended colour merino. I love how it turned out and it is so soft to wear too. Might just have to find some more alpaca...

Now available at The Ferry Artists Gallery

Are you hooked on Pinterest? I am. And I am so glad they have recently made changes to their terms and conditions.
So anyway on the weekend there was a bit of kid crafting going on. This easter idea came from here. I used PVA glue with water(3:1), embroidery cotton and water bomb balloons. Advice: Con/coerce someone to blow the balloons up. I had a few dizzy spells during the process. Be warned the cotton is prone to tangle too.

SO you are now looking at AWARD WINNING easter eggs.
The kids entered them in the "most creative" category at school and won.
WOOHOO! Just quietly I was pretty proud of our family effort :)

A week of greatness and gratefulness.

Why so great and grateful....?
Just had to list it all.

1.Lots of spinning.

2. Steve sold 2 furniture pieces on the weekend.
This will be going into the gallery tomorrow.

3. My "something pretty" blanket sold yesterday.
YAY!! YAY!! YAY!!

4. Managed my morning walk.

5. 2nd harvest of cucumbers.

6. Had a great morning out with a new bloggy friend. Thanks Jill.
Which also included a visit to the fab Bowerbird Project .

7. My youngest son (who is quite shy) played his first soccer match. Afterwards he told me "I thought I would be nervous but I wasn't". Very proud mum.

8. Lines on our road- hooray! Hopefully this will reduce accidents.

9. The opening of the new exhibition "Distractions" at the Ferry Artist Gallery

10. Cathy also known as Tinniegirl had a pay what you can sale.
I am a huge fan of Cathy's art. And I love that her blog allows me to get to know the artist behind the sensational  art. I know she has put her heart into every piece.
So I couldn't let the great opportunity pass...
and I was exceedingly lucky to purchase "Rainmaker".

11. And the cutest till last.
Meet our new addition -GYPSY.

Always grateful, but it has been a while since blogging it and linking up to

Ferry Artists

Last week I decided it was time to create with my handspun yarn.
And as I'm in to quick self-gratification I chose cowls, cowls, and more cowls.

No patterns as such were followed. The first 3 were made with half trebles (uk terms) in the round.

This last one is made up of the V stitch and worked in rows and joined with slip stitch.

They are now available at The Ferry Artist Gallery

And continuing with The Ferry Artist Gallery there is a fabulous exhibition "Distractions"opening on the 24th March with 3 very talented artists Janeane Kay Moore, Jenni-Mae Clissold and Paul Turner.
I can't seem to upload the invite, so click here to view it.
But here is a sneak preview of Jenni-Mae's work.

I  featured Paul Turner's work on Maudeandme last year here and also Jenni-Mae's here.
I love all their works and it really will be worth a visit , and a great opportunity to see the beautiful Wiseman's Ferry also.

My creative space- Ta Da!

Since my last post I was on a mission to finish the "Something Pretty" blanket. And I actually finished it last Thursday.
It was the photographing that took the time ( and the small inconvenience of our river flooding)!
And I just want everyone to appreciate the photos , as during the process I got bitten by a Jumping Jack ant. If you are not familiar with these ants, they are very big, black and can make a grown person cry from their bite! Their bite remains unbearably itchy for days. I don't like them.

Anyway.... all the specs can be seen here.

And last week I took it into a gorgeous local shop Wiseman's Ferry Vintage and Collectables where it is now for sale. Karlene has a shop full of pretty things  - worth a check out.

Now the below aren't mine and if you live in Sydney you may have seen them already.
We went for a visit to the Power House Museum where I was lucky enough to see  the "Love Lace" exhibition. I say "lucky" because I did have a 6 and 7 year old in tow who ,quite frankly weren't that interested in that part of the museum.

This is a pic of the bottom corner of our property, which usually is dry. The combination of the Warragamba Dam spilling over and the high tide resulted in this. It also meant I had the kids home for 3 days as the ferries couldn't run.

And  one more photo just because...

I have long resisted..... but now you can follow Maude and Me here too.

Happy ourcreativespace days.
